Southern California Junior Cricket Academy (SCJCA) is a youth-centered nonprofit organization committed to cultivating future leaders through the powerful fusion of cricket, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), and life skills development.

Founded in 2015, SCJCA was born out of a vision to bring culturally relevant, engaging, and empowering programs to youth in Compton, South Los Angeles, and surrounding communities. What began as a local effort to introduce cricket to underrepresented areas has now grown into a full academy offering seasonal camps, after-school programs, mentorship workshops, and leadership development opportunities for students ages 7–17.

At the heart of our work is a belief in equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment. Our programs go beyond the field and the classroom — they help students build confidence, develop teamwork, practice critical thinking, and take pride in who they are and where they come from.

Whether they’re swinging a bat, coding a robot, creating art, or speaking their truth in a confidence-building workshop, every SCJCA student is growing into the best version of themselves.

About Us

Mustafa Khan
President & Co-Founder

Mustafa Khan is a visionary leader, community builder, and passionate advocate for youth empowerment. As the Co-Founder and President of Southern California Junior Cricket Academy, Mustafa has combined his deep love for the sport of cricket with a mission to uplift and inspire the next generation.

With decades of experience in both athletics and youth development, Mustafa recognized a critical gap in access to structured sports and life-enriching programs in underserved communities. In response, he established SCJCA in 2015 to bring cricket, STEAM, and mentorship directly to the neighborhoods that needed it most.

Mustafa’s leadership is grounded in equity, cultural pride, and opportunity. He has led the charge in building community partnerships, securing resources, and creating safe, joyful spaces for young people to grow. His beginner-friendly handbook, Howzat: A Beginner Cricketer’s Guide, is distributed to every camper as a foundational tool for learning the sport and building confidence.

A firm believer in the potential of every child, Mustafa often says, “We’re not just building athletes—we’re building leaders.”

Today, he continues to be the driving force behind SCJCA’s vision, ensuring every program reflects excellence, empowerment, and community care.
